I went to Winston Salem for Jay and Eddie's Comic Book Show on Saturday. Had a nice time, saw a lot of people I knew, that is getting to be a real favorite thing of mine. I try to socialize more with the people I meet at shows (instead of just jumping back on the road for the long ride home), and I am getting better about that. Comics (or at least making mine) has always been such a solitary and private thing, I think I overlooked the social aspect of it all. Just keeping in touch with people you see at shows makes it a lot different. I made a point of that in Heroescon last month and then again in Winston Salem on Saturday. Glad I did.
Now I have a production to finish here. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare is a play I am directing here in Wilson, NC. That has been a lot of fun and hard work getting together. But I have a great group of people working on it and it is going to be an amazing show. A different creative vibe flowing.
The next shows I have are Winston Salem and Greenville, NC. More details to follow.

Progress
I have finished inking the last page of issue 9, and started on the cover, so I am well underway of making my goal by completing this issue and having it ordered by the end of the month. The first weekend of the children's production I have been directing "Schoolhouse Rock Live Too" has gone by and done very well. That is both rewarding, for seeing the kids do a great job, and a relief that this long process is nearing its end next week. However, this play has been a wonderful experience, I used to be the Technical Director for that program for 6 1/2 years and I miss the kids, and it is a great creative outlet that I have missed. It gave me something to look forward to to get me through work (which is not great, but this is not a blog about that). But when it is done I will put that time into Issue 9, the second Dyslexic Cosmic issue, and a third project I've written and will begin the artwork as soon as I can. Not to mention a print idea or two.
Hopefully all of those will be done by Heroescon in June. If everything works out as it appears to be I WILL be set up again this year. I missed last year because of work (Grrr) but Bear Butt Comics should be back bigger and better this time. Its a lot but I have put off a lot and feel the need to get back full swing.
And the obsession continues.

The holiday post.
This is my obligitory Merry Christmas blog entry. My wife's family is coming in to visit, I have one day off, and various places to visit. Can't make it home this year because it is so far and I only have Christmas day off, so that is a bummer.
On the comics front. I am very close to finishing issue 9, so I hope to be finished and have it ordered by the end of January (there, I said a deadline. Now I have to make it). Been putting a lot of time into directing a children's play, but it has been very rewarding so far.

Here is a link to one of my favorite Christmas songs, if you don't know it then enjoy.

Vacation!
I have one more day of work on Sunday, then I have my week's vacation. I am really jonesing for this, I have several ideas that are jockying for position to get done first. Issue 9 is very close to being done and Huh the Cosmic Polar Bear kicks his story up a notch, that uses artwork created almost 10 years ago. So that is cool (for me at least) to see the two styles side by side.
Dyslexic Cosmic 2 is underway and the end is close (close enough to distract me from #9).
And a new story is written and I hope to start on art soon, but I want to finish those two first. And then there is an art print that I want to start, a prose story that has piqued my interest, and a board game (yes a board game). That's not even all of them. Throw in the fact that I am directing a children's theatre production of School House Rock Live Too! and I have a lot of things I would like to spend my time doing.

Time Flies
Its hard to believe it's mid October already. I haven't written anything lately, work has been hectic lately. For my real job I am the scene designer/ technical director/ lighting designer/ master painter/ head electrician/ master carpenter for the local children's theatre group called ACT for Youth. It keeps me very busy, and lately I have been immersed in the tech work for High School Musical. In addition to that I am planning a Halloween Film Festival. The fun part of that is getting to watch these classic horror movies and pick the ones to watch.
All of that of course means that I have not been able to do as much on Intermezzo as I would like. I do try to make sure that I spend some time every day in front of my art table. I have decided to treat it like a discipline to keep Intermezzo moving forward. But i have found when i do this, the time I spend working on my comic is very relaxing and helps me decompress after a long day at the theatre.
I am not moving as fast as I would like, but there are so many stories I want to do that are swimming around in my head that I will never be able to put them down quickly enough. The impatience of obsession.
